An access log contains a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while browsing your website. The list is thorough, so if you have a webpage with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files will be in the log, not only the page. An access log usually contains the date, the Operating System, the web browser and the IP address for every single file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the hottest files on your Internet site. The log, that is also frequently called "raw data", is an addition to the web stats you normally get with a hosting account, not a replacement. One example why you could need this kind of a log is if you wish to use some software on your computer to prepare a report about the website’s functionality, but you don't want to use the standard graphs and tables that come with the server-generated site statistics.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting
account and visit this section, you will find a list of all the domains
and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you can stop it with only a mouse click from the exact same section of the CP. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server
account with us, you shall have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with only a couple of mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is a click on the On button that you can see there. The function can be enabled separately for any site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you shall find a complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you can then look at it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation may be deactivated by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your Control Panel.
